Sometimes tradespeople get some pretty rough press, and sometimes it is deserved. As an industry we are often our own worst enemy, but a new breed of tradesperson is trying to change that. As a company we are working hard to continually improve our service.

Filtering through the endless list of trades companies all vying for your business, how do you get the tradesperson that is the true professional who will exceed your expectations? 

Follow these simple rules and you will never fail.

1. Look for a recognizable, longstanding brand.
2. Listen to the way that company answers the phone. First impressions are usually right, so from the outset are they treating you as a customer, or as an inconvenience?
3. Does the company articulate how their pricing works from the start, or are they just going to give you a bill at the end?
4. If the company is happy to give you a price over the phone, how accurate can it be without seeing the job, or the circumstances? Your tradesperson should always attend site before giving you an accurate price.
5. Does the tradesperson where a uniform? Are they neat and tidy, and what is the condition of their vehicle? If they don’t take care of themselves, will they take care of your home?
6. Check that your tradesperson is certified, licensed and insured.
7. Check they are using quality products backed by manufacturers warranties.
8. Never shop on price alone, you really do get what you pay for. Look at the value you get, the customer service, the warranties, and the quality of product and service.
9. Ask for a testimonial. A good reliable company will have plenty of customers that can recommend their services.
10. Once you have found the right tradesperson, build a relationship with them so you will always have someone there if emergency strikes.
